AFTER Pretty much evergreen. Plant it, love it, leave it lone...er...um..and water it :) |
Do you need help with your curb appeal? With your overgrown, neglected garden? Selling your home and need to update your garden but don't have time? Have you ever gone to your local nursery , bought $$$ worth of plants, spent the weekend amending the soil and planting only to find out the light was all wrong or the plants you bought need way more maintenance than you thought? Hey, it said drought tolerant, so why do I need to water? PhotoGardening is a brand new concept I came up with becasue I have answered "Yes" to all of the above. Over 20 years of dirt under my nails and working with the local botanical garden has given me an extensive knowledge of plants and how they work. I also enjoy working with software. So now I have the unique ability to take your vision and put it in a photo. Not a drawing of "over here are trees and over there are bushes" but actual photos of specific plants. All of the after photos were created using PhotoGardening. Enjoy! |

Below are Before and After PhotoGardens |
AFTER Juniper topiary, boxwood hedge are evergreen. Daisies and sage are perennials, meaning they will come back year after year, so very little maintenance. Caladiums carry through the theme from the tree on side yard shown further down the page. Yes, you too can have your fantasy car parked in your garage! |
HOUSE FOR SALE You're a realtor and your client has a house that could use a little curb appeal. The house needs to sell now, no time for renovations. How about PhotoGardening? Prospective buyers can have an idea of what the house would look like with a different point of view. |
BEFORE Owner loves the present landscaping, gives them privacy. |
AFTER Some easy updating - boxwood hedge, evergreen carolina laurel and a perennial - cannas. Plant this look in the spring and you have an easy, update in one season. |
BEFORE 20 year old home with original landscaping. Requested tree left alone. |
BEFORE Trees in front yard were removed, which made the area too sunny for the existing oak leaf hydrangeas. Let's look at some options. |
AFTER Stone knee wall along with evergreen shrubs and topiaries give this house a huge amount of curb appeal with almost no maintenance. The cannas will come back year after year, just add water! |
AFTER Evergreen shrubs, topiaries, liriope will give this garden color all year. Cannas and sage are perennials. Yet again, a very low maintenance garden. The crepe myrtle looks great decorated in winter with Christmas lights. Please show some modesty when accepting rave reviews from your neighbors :) |
AFTER Perennials with a touch of annuals give this a country garden look. The annuals, dragon wing begonias in front can be replaced with pansies in the fall. This look takes more TLC and could use some potted plants by the door in the winter for color. |
AFTER Tropical look. Pass the margueritas! |
BEFORE New neighbor put up red brick wall and cut main stem of cedar bushes. |
AFTER By request, a brick knee wall was added (in the photo, that is). Almost all of the green plants in this photo are evergreen. The pink Caladiums, which are annuals, add color and have the same watering requirements as the rest of the plants. |
BEFORE Overgrown fruit tree is hogging all the glory! |
AFTER Now that's a glorious looking garden - shades of green and white with red highlights. |
BEFORE Continuing the sad story from above... |
AFTER I love happy endings - all these plants are perennials except the dragon wing begonias. Low maintenance! |
PhotoGardening gives you a chance to put into pictures your "what if we planted this" or "I wonder how that would look at our place". Whether you have a very clear idea of what you want or if you're new at this and would like a helping hand, this process brings your ideas to gardening reality. Great gift idea - housewarming present, Mother's Day, Father's Day, birthdays or anniversaries. |
