* Rake your lawn instead of using a blower.
* Sweep your driveway / patio instead of using a blower.
* Switch to a manual or electric lawn mower.
* Insulate your attic.
* Perform maintenance / change filters on your air conditioner / furnace.
* When choosing an air conditioner / furnce select the highest efficiency unit you can afford.
* Carpool and telecommute when possible.
* Maintain a warmer house temperature in the summer.
* Maintain a cooler house temperature in the winter.
* Compost the leaves from your yard instead of putting them out to be hauled away.
* Use your grass clippings for weed control / mulch in non-visible areas of your garden instead of
putting them out to be hauled away.
* If your garage is attached to your house keep the doors closed when the temperature is below 50 or
above 80.
* Use ceiling fans.
* If replacing your garage doors, choose new ones that are insulated.
* Weatherstrip around garage doors, windows, and doors.
* Turn off unused lights, computers, TV's, etc.
* Close the blinds on the sunny side of the house on hot days.
* Recycle.
* Buy locally produced / grown products when possible.
* Wash your clothes at a lower temperature.
Regardless whether you believe in AGW or not, everyone will be impacted by the resulting government rules and regulations. Here are some things
that you can do to reduce your energy usage & carbon footprint. All of the following ideas will help you save money, too.
